You know what's most difficult to get used to about the new job? I get evenings and weekends off. I get to go home when there's still hours left in the day. It sounds like paradise (seriously!), but it's surprisingly hard to adjust to all the same, especially when things are busy (as things inevitably are); I'm used to working twice the hours for a third of the pay, and I've been doing that for so long that this feels somehow skewed.

But I'm not complaining. Oh, hell no.

Anyway, more later, to a vague approximation of 'later'. I'm off out for dinner to celebrate the good fortunes of my brave little finally-fought-its-way-to-publication article.

  2. Hurrah for the evenings and weekends off. I'm jealous.

And congratulations on getting the article published. I am SO far behind in the grand scheme of academic things....

And I don't get evenings and weekends off.

  4. Ah yes, evenings and weekends. I've always had them off which is why I've never complained about starting early (8.30am), my relatively low pay and why I'm hoping the company might re-employ me in 6 months time. You don't know horror until you sit in my office when someone calls and asks if we're open on Saturday.

"No, we're not! And don't go giving the boss any ideas!"

And well done on the publication front, btw. You moved yet?
